Searching for Dragons

Yorkshire Tyke has arrived with her new host safe and sound. She is looking forward to getting to know her new friends. Yorkshire Tyke is particularly hoping a Dungeon and Dragons PLB might arrive whilst she is there. How thrilling it would be to watch Cain's Character - Draco fight a battle with a monster. Still, even if nothing arrived on the PLB front, she is sure Cain will allow her to join in with an ordinary game or two, and then she would be able to explain it to me when she gets home.

Idaho here I come!

Yorkshire Tyke is on her way to great letterboxing adventures at last. She has Mini-Bug as a companion on her journey. Mini-Bug has become a great friend and she will stay long enough to introduce her to Trouble Bug and make her feel at home before Mini-Bug sets out on her second adventure.

What is a Yorkshire Tyke?

A Yorkshire Tyke was originally a fairly insulting term. In the past it was used about Yorkshire folk because they do tend to be very blunt when speaking. Nevertheless people from Yorkshire will talk about themselves as Tykes, proud of being honest folk, just as they are proud of their county and traditions.

In Great Britain, northern folk in general can be very blunt. This is thought to have come about because people 'from down South' lived too close to the court in London to be able to say what they really thought. They were near enough for the Kings Men to come and take them to be imprisoned or worse still beheaded! Northerners had less to fear and continued to speak their minds, however I have to admit that with Yorkshire folk a spade is often a bloody shovel!

Beginnings

Yorkshire Tyke is a Boxing Buddy and is getting very excited about travelling the world, letterboxing in places that I (The Yorkshire Tortoise) cannot reach. She has her own signature stamp and a lovely new logbook in which she hopes to stamp many box images.

For the moment she is enjoying having Mini-Bug to stay in Yorkshire, but hopes to travel back to Idaho with her and stay with Trouble Bug for a month.
